A controlled environment

In some instances, a heat chamber (or controlled environment) needs to be built (or bought) to create a condition to eradicate bedbugs. Whether you are a homeless shelter, have emergency vehicles or a hotel with clients that bring in bedbugs from extensive travel, constructing a heat chamber will help you deal with a bedbugs and reduce or eliminate the problem at inception.

SIZE OF CHAMBER

What you intend to heat and the frequency of the treatment will give you direction on the size and type of chamber.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

The physical construction materials of a chamber will determine the heat loss and/or heat retention value to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of your process.

INSULATION

Once the size and they type of materials being used in known, you will need to insulate the interior with any of the many varieties of insulation to meet the best insulation or R* values.

PREVENTION.

You can be ahead of the game by having your own plan of attack to kill bedbugs before they create problems. Not reacting fast enough can cause you to lose money, thus the longer it takes to deal with the problem the larger the problem develops. Don’t pay thousands of dollars, be exposed to harmful chemicals or have to close your doors to control bedbugs when you can easily create a Heat Chamber to kill bedbugs.

TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES AND VOLUNTEERS ABOUT BEDBUGS.

All employees and volunteers need to have an understanding of bed bugs. What bedbugs look like (all life stages), and where they hide, so that they can perform bedbug inspections. It is important to train all employees and volunteers to increase the chances of discovering an infestation quickly.

BE PROACTIVE.

Communicate how your industry deals with bedbugs. Inform the people that may bring in bedbugs that bedbugs are very common and this is how your industry deals with them. Each individual checking in should know that they are responsible for informing a facility employee of bedbug sightings right away. Let each person know how their belonging will be treated to rid it of bedbugs – with the use of a Heat Chamber.

HEAT.

Lethal temperatures for bed bugs range between 122º to 135ºF. That’s why, at Dead BedBugz, all of our heaters get up to 155ºF (68ºC) to ensure all bedbugs and pests are effectively killed. When you heat a chamber for an extended period of time to temperatures pests are unable to withstand, you can guarantee that you’ve efficiently (and safely) handled any infestation you have. Heat will also destroy pests at any stage of development, including unhatched larvae.

PACKAGES.

Dead Bedbugz heat treatment packages are the best way to manage your business for bedbugs. Our different packages include one to four heaters along with one to three fans (depending on the size of the chamber and the type of outlets you have). Included is either a Laser Infrared Thermometer or a Remote Temperature Monitoring System to manage the heat produced by the heaters.

CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT.

A controlled environment is heated by raising the ambient temperature to approximately 122 to 135°F. This temperature will not damage certain items in the room (see the List A below). Heated air is driven by the fans into cracks and crevices where bedbugs like to disappear. Unlike chemical fumigation, heat does not have to be applied by a certified pest management professional and is non-toxic.
